We were looking for a mountain to meet “in the middle” and the original plan was to hike Teufelstättkopf. But, with all the Orkan warnings in the weather forecast I thought hmm, is that such a bright idea actually to be standing on top of the mountain, with wind gushes up to 130kph apparently? Nope, not quite, but still: mountains are calling and I saw on Instagram that Wankhaus (I know, that’s seriously the name! 😂) has open and it provides food and shelter so off we go!

It took us almost 3h to get there, with few stops on the way because the combination of high boots, the stairs and extremely warm temperature was an exhausting one 😅 In the end it was quite windy on top, yes, but by far not as dramatic, as they made it sound. The view over Garmisch and Zugspitze is a neat one, even with all the Sahara sand in the air. And since we took a different route down, we had that view all the way down – seeing less and less in each he end, because it got really cloudy yellowish foggy, a bit of an apocalyptic feel to it.

All in all a really nice round tour! With some fun on the top 😉 Somehow bigger than what I expected to be – Wank it’s “just” a GaPa Hausberg and it’s not such a small tour actually. And with a good visibility it must be spectacular, with the snowy peaks of Wetterstein so nearby. Easter Saturday well spent!
