We just got back from Egypt the day before and it was so nice and sunny, that I had to go to the mountains! And Rotwand is always a good choice for a sunset so we didn’t think long. And it all started well: no heavy traffic, we got a free parking ticket from a guy that was leaving and the weather was gorgeous. It was steep up, as we took a strange shortcut below from Taubenstein but all good, nice to go a different route. But when we gone out of the forest it became windy… and the closer we got to the top, the windier it got. It was so icy cold on the top, that we only spent there 2 minutes and had to hurry down not to freeze. We settled down few meters below, ate what we got and watched the sunset and then hurried down (I was jogging down) to warm up in Rotwandhaus before going down! Thank goodness for the open hut and the hot chocolate, it was really freezing cold outside and wind was biting! Too bad we couldn’t enjoy the view from the top (and guess who got cold the day after haha – the temperature shock!). Still, no regrets as mountains never disappoint 😍
