Who would have expected such a jungle in Crete! A must see, well worth driving all the way east. We parked on the well marked parking just behind Exo Mouliana and went down the gorge route. It takes maybe 20min before you reach the toll house, pay 3€ and enter the jungle! All the way to the waterfall it was very empty and very green, very few people on the way but plenty birds and lizards, perfection 😍
The waterfall is beautiful! It wasn’t too crowded either, couple of people came up from the beach to take a dip and/or some pics. We continued down to the beach (another hour) and on that route there were more people. It’s still a beautiful hike but I liked the first part much better 🙂 The beach itself is not that great but there’s picnic tables in the shade and running drinking water so that’s a plus.
We went back up using the little narrow road, it took us 2h and only the first part was steep, after the first 30min it’s getting much nicer going through huge olive gardens. You arrive back in Exo Mouliana town, the last 300m to the parking along the road and that’s it! Beautiful adventure it was 🤩
